All of our team riders are handpicked by Al himself. Riders are chosen on a variety of levels including abiltiy, knowledge and character. Aj has a wide variety of riders from intermediate to advanced, young to old. This helps a lot with design and testing with all models.

Testimonial: I’m Sam Lendrum, I’m 19 years old and have been riding Al Johns surfboards for about 6 years now. Throughout the time I have been riding Al’s boards he has always known what I want in a board and when I want it. Apart from the fact that Al’s boards have always given me everything I want from a board I also have the added bennefit of living one street back from him. This is the main reason for mine and Al’s success with his boards because we get to surf together on a regular basis and while my surfing pushes his shaping, his shaping pushes my surfing. Seeing as though we live so close, have known each other for around 7 years and only have an age difference of about 8 years , we have grown to have a brother-like relationship which is another plus for both my surfing and his shaping. I owe a lot of my success in surfing to Al’s shaping and whithout the support of his I wouldn’t be where I am today. So in saying that I am very appreciative of what he has and is doing for me and can’t wait to see where it takes us in the future.

Testimonial: My name's Bobby Frith im from Old Bar on the mid north coast, NSW.Ive been working really closely with Johnsy for the past three years he has been shaping some magic sticks for myself. In the last twelve months we have tweaked out some absolute ripper models. I am super fussy when it comes to my boards i like to know ive got the best equipment under my feet in all conditions.Al has a great way of taking and processing all my feedback and producing it into a board. Al's boards have made every session fun, i never get bumbed out any more if the surf is 1ft and onshore, i just pull out the 5'6 ZEPPA ,this board has a rocket up its butt. Its more performance based then your average fish, you can get super tight in the pocket but still get out on the face and bury your rail into a nice cuttie!! Its the slop machine!
Seriously any surfer that doesn't have a ZEPPA in there quiver is trippin balls!!!
Im looking foward to continually working with Al into the future and with Al's skills in the shaping bay i know my surfing will go to new levels!!
